Cut vinyl or printed decals?

Most vans use both: a printed logo with cut vinyl lettering around it. Either way, decals are not a wrap, and most of the van stays in its original paint.

  • Cut vinyl lettering

Letters and shapes cut from solid-colour vinyl. Clean edges, no background box, ideal for names, phone numbers and service lists. This is what most people mean by modern van signwriting.

  • Printed decals

Full-colour prints for logos with gradients, photos or many colours. Usually trimmed to the logo shape.

What to put where

  • Sides

Business name and what you do, big enough to read across a road. A short list of services if space allows.

  • Rear doors

Phone number and website first. This is the view people have time to read in traffic.

  • Bonnet or front

Usually just the name or logo, kept simple.

Keeping lettering readable

Contrast matters more than font choice. Dark letters on a white van, or white or yellow on a dark van, read far better than tones close to the paint colour. Plain, heavy typefaces survive distance; thin scripts do not.

We plan around handles, rear lights, hinges, windows and roof racks, so no number sits half across a door gap or behind a ladder.

Artwork, updates and old letters

  • Vector files

Cut vinyl needs vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or vector PDF). If you only have a low-res logo, our in-house design team can redraw it.

  • Colour choice

Solid vinyl comes in set colours, so we choose the closest match to your brand colours.

  • Changing details

New phone number or website? Single lines can be removed and replaced without redoing the rest.

  • Old lettering

Old letters often leave adhesive and a faint outline in the paint. We remove and clean before fitting new decals.

What is the difference between van decals and a wrap?

Decals are individual logos and letters applied to the paint. A wrap covers whole panels in printed vinyl.

Can you change just my phone number?

Yes. Individual lines of lettering can usually be removed and replaced without redoing the whole van.

What file do you need for my logo?

A vector file is best. If you only have an image, our design team can redraw it for cutting or printing.

Can you take off the old lettering first?

Yes. We remove old letters and clean off adhesive before fitting the new decals.
