Public Sector / Hanging Signs

Hanging Signs
for Public Sector.

Accessible, maintainable information for public-facing sites. Hanging signs suspend a panel from a bracket or overhead structure, adding movement and side-on visibility. The panel, hanging hardware and bracket must be designed as one assembly.

The application

Where it earns its place.

Entrance, reception and directional systems should be tested against the real visitor route and approved information hierarchy. They suit shops, cafés, pubs, studios and courtyard units where customers approach along the building line. Simple double-sided names and strong shapes are easier to read than detailed messages on a moving panel.

Shared buildings and changing public information need clear ownership and durable formats.

From brief to upkeep

Details make the difference.

Material choice, fixing and care should follow the conditions of your actual premises.

01 / 04

Specify

Survey the proposed sign position and viewing distance before confirming dimensions and fixings. Powder-coated steel brackets, aluminium panels, timber-effect boards, chains, rigid links and exterior vinyl can create traditional or contemporary results. Weight, wind exposure and corrosion resistance guide the hardware choice.

02 / 04

Produce

Both faces are prepared from the approved artwork, panel edges and hanging points are finished, and the bracket is fabricated for the intended projection. Hardware is test assembled so the sign hangs level.

03 / 04

Install

Check procurement approvals, brand rules, accessibility requirements and any restricted access before finalising artwork or installation. The bracket requires a structurally suitable fixing area and clearance from doors, awnings and pedestrian space. Mounting height, swing, access equipment and any local consent should be resolved before fabrication.

04 / 04

Look after it

Moving hardware and wall fixings should be checked periodically for wear or corrosion. Faces can often be re-lettered while a sound bracket and panel remain in service.

Think beyond one surface

Public-facing organisations need consistent identification and understandable routes. Signage should follow the commissioning body’s brand, accessibility and approval requirements rather than assuming one standard specification.

Entrance, reception and directional systems should be tested against the real visitor route and approved information hierarchy.
