Public Sector / Acrylic Signs

Acrylic Signs
for Public Sector.

Accessible, maintainable information for public-facing sites. Acrylic signs offer crisp colour, polished edges and a clean surface suited to close viewing. They can be used as flat panels, layered logos or routed letters in commercial interiors and sheltered external positions.

The application

Where it earns its place.

Entrance, reception and directional systems should be tested against the real visitor route and approved information hierarchy. Reception plaques, door signs, directories, menu panels and branded wall features benefit from acrylic’s precise finish. Clear panels can float information away from the wall, while opaque colours create solid brand blocks.

Shared buildings and changing public information need clear ownership and durable formats.

From brief to upkeep

Details make the difference.

Material choice, fixing and care should follow the conditions of your actual premises.

01 / 04

Specify

Survey the proposed sign position and viewing distance before confirming dimensions and fixings. Clear, opal, frosted, mirrored and coloured acrylic are available in different thicknesses. Printed reverse graphics, applied vinyl, stand-off fixings and layered components expand the finish without exposing the graphic face to touch.

02 / 04

Produce

Panels and letters are laser or router cut from approved artwork, edges are polished where required, and holes are positioned from a fixing drawing. Layered pieces are assembled with controlled alignment and suitable adhesives.

03 / 04

Install

Check procurement approvals, brand rules, accessibility requirements and any restricted access before finalising artwork or installation. Acrylic expands and can crack if holes or screws are poorly sized, so fixings should allow for the material and avoid excessive pressure. Wall condition, drilling points and panel level are checked before final tightening.

04 / 04

Look after it

A soft cloth and acrylic-safe cleaner prevent scratching and crazing. Abrasive pads and solvent cleaners should be avoided, especially on mirrored or polished faces.

Think beyond one surface

Public-facing organisations need consistent identification and understandable routes. Signage should follow the commissioning body’s brand, accessibility and approval requirements rather than assuming one standard specification.

Entrance, reception and directional systems should be tested against the real visitor route and approved information hierarchy.
